Important Information
This only applies if you’ve moved to the latest ASSP
.

Signing into Avanti

You can set up your users to sign into Avanti using Avanti Security or Microsoft Sign-On. For additional verification, you can use multi-factor authentication with either of these.

Avanti Security
Avanti Security allows users to sign in using a username and password unique to Avanti. When someone creates an account or resets their password before signing in on ASSP and Avanti Go, passwords must:

  • Be at least 12 characters long and include at least 1 lowercase letter, uppercase letter, special character, and number.

  • Avoid too many repeating or sequential characters

  • Avoid some common phrases that pose security concerns.

Sign in with Microsoft
Does your organization use Azure Active Directory to authenticate employees? You can set up your users to authenticate using Microsoft Sign-On. This makes Avanti easier to sign into since employees will have one less password to remember. Instead of needing a username and password to log into Avanti, your employees can select Sign in with Microsoft.

Go to Set Up Microsoft Sign-On in Avanti to get started.

Both Avanti Security and Microsoft Sign-In

You can also use a combination of Avanti Security and Sign in with Microsoft to confirm your user’s identity.

If you’re using a combination of Avanti Security and Sign in with Microsoft for employees to sign in, we recommend creating a message to help employees know how they should sign in. Check out Additional Messages for more information.

Multi-factor Authentication

With security threats becoming increasingly sophisticated, it’s essential to keep your critical information safe. Create an additional layer of security by requiring users to use an authenticator app or security questions when signing into Avanti helps prevent unauthorized access.

Want to learn more? Check out the Multi-factor Authentication Overview for all the details.

Account Lockouts

To help protect against cyber attacks, a 30-minute lockout applies to users who enter incorrect sign-in information too many times. Administrators can unlock a user’s account before the lockout period ends.

When an account is locked out, we’ll email them to let them know. They’ll also see a note in their Avanti Messages and the Notification Center once they sign back in.

Password Reset

Do you want employees to be able to reset their password when they cannot sign in? Help your employees get back to work quickly - all without manual intervention by your team!

Additional Information
Password reset only works for employees using Avanti Security to verify their identity. If everyone
uses Microsoft Single Sign-On, you shouldn’t enable Forgot Password.

You can set up password reset on ASSP and Avanti Go, adjusting the text displayed to be as formal or casual as you’d like. You can also align with your security standard by setting which information is used to confirm the employee’s identity.

Afterwards, it’s on autopilot. Employees can enter their information, which we match to what’s already on their employee profile. Once we’ve confirmed their identity, we’ll email them a verification code to paste in.

Then, all that’s left is to update their password. They’ll be guided through the security requirements while creating their new password.

Create Account

You can have new employees create their own Avanti User on ASSP and Avanti Go, where they can create their own username and password.

image-20240810-171220.png

Having employees create their own accounts is perfect if your employees use Avanti Security, a username/password unique to Avanti, to confirm their identity. You won’t want to set this up if you’re using Microsoft Sign-On to authenticate employees or Avanti’s onboarding to gather employee information.

We’ll use the new employee’s personal information to confirm their identity. You can adjust the information employees supply to suit your organization’s needs and information-gathering process. If you don’t set up your own questions, employees will need to enter a username you define, along with their password and postal code.

Who Can Create an Account
Only employees with Enable Web Services selected on the Personal tab of the Employee Profile can create an account. Haven’t added this to your employees yet? Go to Update Employee Information for All Employees to learn more.

User Group Information
When employees register on the Avanti Self-Service Portal, they will become part of user group Web Users. If this user group does not exist in company, it’s automatically created with web-only access and a responsibility level of W.

Ready to get started? Check out Create Account and Registration Setup.

French in Avanti

Have employees across Canada? You can allow employees to choose their ASSP language from Canada’s two official languages, English and French. Check out French in Avanti for more details.

Additional Information
While most of ASSP automatically
translates to French, you’ll need to provide French translations for text that you can tailor for your organization’s needs, such as code descriptions, pay statements, and information messages.

Additional Messages

An additional message can be added that will appear beneath the Self-service sign in, along with another message in a popup. If the second message exists, the first message will be a hyperlink that will display the second message when selected. Go to the ASSP & Avanti Go Sign-In Setup Guide to learn more.

Onboarding Sign In

With onboarding, your new hires can enter everything you need to know about them before their first pay.

image-20240810-170557.png

When you begin onboarding using applicant approval, they’ll use the onboarding sign-in to get started. If you opt to initiate onboarding from their Employee Profile, they’ll sign into ASSP.

Additional Information
Unsure what your onboarding web address is? Add /OnboardingLogin
to the end of your ASSP web address. New employees who resume onboarding will need to sign in using ASSP after they’ve created their account.

You can add some additional information to the onboarding sign-in. Check out the Onboarding Sign In Setup Guide to get started.
